Kwame Brako showcased amongst other film creators at the Essence Fest Film Ceremony, winning the 2024 Audience Award for Best Animation. The film is a 5 minute teaser to the pilot currently in production.

Synopsis

In the vast expanse of the cosmos, where worlds are born from the hands of mythological gods, the tale of 'The Lost Comb of Mawu' unfolds. Mawu, (a W. African deity, associated with creation, fertility, and the moon) harnesses the power to shape cosmic realms, soon yearns for companionship and creates a partner (Darkmythst) from the essence of a comet. Together, they craft magnificent worlds, including a peculiar planet ripe for habitation.

Mawu, creates man from stone to enhance this chosen world, bringing life to it by instilling a spark of her love's heart into him. She leave's him a gift, a powerful comb, that when donned in his hair, completes his grounding with the world, giving him the power of earthly elements, in which he will use to shape the planet. After his world sculpting, he returns to Mawu, leaving the comb behind on the planet.

Centuries pass, and the planet evolves into a thriving ecosystem. Meanwhile, the mystical comb, imbued with the ability to harness the earth's energy, lies forgotten. It is discovered by Esi, a spirited member of the AfroCyber Punk Clan, descendants of napturalists who revere the power of hair.

As Esi and her friends unearth the comb's ancient powers, they become ensnared in a web of danger woven by the envious Afro Solar Punk Prince. Driven by greed, he seeks to seize the comb for his own sinister purposes, unleashing terror upon Esi's world.

In a climactic battle of wills and elemental power, Esi must embrace her destiny and wield the comb's magic to save her world from destruction. With courage, ingenuity, and the bonds of friendship, she embarks on a quest that will change the fate of their cosmos forever.

As the Solar Punk Prince closes in, threatening their very lives, Esi's true heritage is revealed. Her father, the chief of the AfroCyber Punks and a demigod in his own right, emerges from the shadows to confront the tyrant and harness the comb's ancient magic to protect his daughter and her friends.

The Characters

The Afro.Cyber.Punks

The Afro.Cyber.Punks of Melanolia, are a community, rich and proud of their history and culture. They migrated far from the city into the life of nature following the rise of the Afro.Solar.Punks, as a means to keep in touch with their roots and to live in peace with harmony.

The migration led to a location, where the mythological talisman, “The Lost Comb of Mawu”, will be found, leading this group of adventure seekers on a life-changing experience as they harness the true magic of self and napturality.

The Afro.Solar.Punks

The Afro.Solar.Punks emerged as they advanced in technology, gaining power and stability through the use of the worlds natural elements. They are an advanced version of the Cyber.Punks, whom by their own on pride, sought to be the superiors of Melanolia.

When news of the “Lost Comb” reaches the prince, he seeks to gain a grasp of the comb for his personal gains, while at the same time fearing loss of his great power. He will lead a team of his most trusted to track and obtain the comb.

The Entities

Appeagyei, known as the next-world-Gatekeeper, guards the wisdom and path beyond the doors that lead to the answers of the futurist.

Mawu is the Goddess of life, fertility and designer of worlds. It is her talisman that is awarded to DarkMythst, demi-God, in which the comb gives its user the powers to harness and manipulate the universal laws, matter and energy
